How to tell a good gig offer from a bad one

A single big number — “$14.50!” — tells you almost nothing. What matters is what that pay works out to per hour of your time and per mile on your car. This calculator compares each offer you enter on both, against the standards you set:

  • Dollars per hour = offer pay ÷ estimated time. Covers your time, including the drive to pickup.
  • Dollars per mile = offer pay ÷ total miles. Covers wear on your vehicle.
  • Separate vehicle-cost evidence. Compare per-mile pay with your modeled vehicle cost. It does not change the target result.

Exceeds targets means both rates are at or above your preferred targets. Meets targets means both meet your minimums and at least one is below its preferred target. Doesn’t meet targets means either rate is below its minimum. Rates are compared before rounding. Your decision and any recorded outcome stay separate from this result.

Offer calculator FAQ

How do I know if a delivery or rideshare offer is worth it?

Judge every offer on two numbers against your own bar: dollars per hour (pay ÷ time) and dollars per mile (pay ÷ distance). A high total can still be a bad offer if the miles or minutes are high. This calculator compares both against the minimum and preferred rates you set, and flags any offer that pays below what your car costs to run.

What is a good per-mile rate for DoorDash or Uber Eats?

There is no universal good rate. Start with your own true cost per mile, then set the minimum and preferred margin you need above it for your market and vehicle. Use the cost-per-mile calculator to estimate vehicle costs separately.

Why does the calculator care about my cost per mile?

Because gross pay does not account for the car. The calculator shows whether per-mile pay is below your modeled vehicle cost. This separate cost evidence never changes the result against your hourly and mileage targets.

Does OfferIQ do this automatically?

The app reads supported offer screenshots with on-device OCR and can speak the result aloud. The latest version uses the target rules shown here. Use your phone only when it is safe and legal.
