How to tell a good gig offer from a bad one

A single big number — “$14.50!” — tells you almost nothing. What matters is what that pay works out to per hour of your time and per mile on your car. OfferIQ grades every offer on both, against the standards you set:

  • Dollars per hour = offer pay ÷ estimated time. Covers your time, including the drive to pickup.
  • Dollars per mile = offer pay ÷ total miles. Covers wear on your vehicle.
  • The cost-per-mile floor. Enter what your car actually costs to run and any offer paying below it is a hard D — it loses money no matter how the hourly looks.

The grade is the worst of the two axes: clear both your preferred rates and it's an A; clear your minimums and it's a B; fall below a minimum and it drops to a C; miss on both, or dip below your cost per mile, and it's a D. Set your bar once and judge every offer the same honest way.

Stop doing this math at a red light

OfferIQ reads the offer from a screenshot, grades it against your rates in seconds, and even speaks the numbers aloud — hands-free.

Offer calculator FAQ

How do I know if a delivery or rideshare offer is worth it?

Judge every offer on two numbers against your own bar: dollars per hour (pay ÷ time) and dollars per mile (pay ÷ distance). A high total can still be a bad offer if the miles or minutes are high. This calculator grades both against the minimum and preferred rates you set, and flags any offer that pays below what your car costs to run.

What is a good per-mile rate for DoorDash or Uber Eats?

Many full-time drivers use ~$1.00–$2.00 per mile as a floor, but the honest answer is: above your own true cost per mile plus the profit you need. Set your minimum and preferred per-mile rate here to match your market and vehicle. Use the cost-per-mile calculator to find your floor.

Why does the calculator care about my cost per mile?

Because gross pay lies. An offer can look fine per hour yet lose money once fuel, maintenance, and depreciation are counted. If you enter your true cost per mile, any offer paying below it is graded D — it costs you money to take.

Does OfferIQ do this automatically?

Yes. The OfferIQ iOS app reads an offer straight from a screenshot with on-device OCR, grades it A–D against your rates in seconds, and can even speak the numbers aloud so you can decide hands-free while you drive.
